This course aims to equip caregivers with the skills to effectively communicate with family members, care workers, and migrant domestic workers to ensure the well-being of senior clients. Participants will learn the importance of positive communication, ways to express needs and feelings constructively, techniques to build relationships with care workers, and strategies to manage emotions during stressful situations.

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognise the importance of positive communication with family members and care recipient, your care worker and migrant domestic worker to communicate expectations on shared caregiving roles and responsibilities. 

  • Demonstrate ways to express needs and feelings clearly and constructively without blaming others or causing them to be defensive, especially when broaching difficult topics.

  • Take time to know your care worker and migrant domestic worker to build a relationship. 

  • Examine one’s emotions when faced with situations of stress, anxiety and anger, and be mindful of their impact on communication.
