About the Course
This course is designed to equip participants with essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to provide safe and compassionate care for elderly individuals. Participants will learn fundamental caregiving techniques, including infection control, monitoring vital signs, communication strategies, and assisting with mobility, medication, and emergencies. The training integrates hands-on practice, demonstrations, role-play, and reflective discussions to ensure practical application in real-life caregiving scenarios.
Learning Outcomes
Identify common physical, emotional, and cognitive changes associated with aging and describe at least one caregiving adaptations, given real-life caregiving scenarios.
Execute proper handwashing and hygiene practices during a practical exercise, ensuring compliance with infection control standards.
Measure and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure, using basic monitoring devices with accuracy.
Facilitate at least two basic mobility exercises for elderly individuals using provided instructions, ensuring all safety measures are followed.
Perform daily skincare routines to prevent pressure sores during hands-on demonstrations, using proper techniques without errors.
Administer oral medications safely by following schedules and precautions.
Apply active listening and empathetic communication techniques effectively during role-playing activities, successfully demonstrating these skills in at least one scenario.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, such as falls or choking, during simulated scenarios, taking correct actions in all cases.
